Ancillary Task Concept - Take 1

Me and Steven whilst we been making your documentary, have both been starting make our ancillary tasks. Here is who making what ancillary task;

Here is the first concept that I have made so far on CS5 Photoshop. I have looked at some magazine adverts to give me a better understanding of what I have to do. This is what I have made so far for my documentary magazine for 'Inside Britain's Schools.'

Summary

This is what I have made so far, and I have start to see the double page spread coming into it but I still have a lot more to do to make this look professional. I believe that the pictures that I have taken are good for the double page spread.

Next Steps

The next steps for me and Steven is to improve my double page spread and make it look professional. Me and Steven also both have to get the final shots within a classroom to make our documentary almost ready to edit and finish.

Documentary Planning - Filming Schedule

Filming Schedule

Me and Steven are going to start filming for our documentary on the 14th January 2016. We would be filming around the school for our documentary so that the audience would gain a better understanding of what the school environment is like. However, we will not be filming inside the school corridors because we need to have permission from the heads of the school so me and Steven would have to send them a letter and confirm a date and time with them for us being aloud to shot. Here is the list of times when we would start to film around the school.

• First Filming Shoot - Thursday 14th January 2016 (1:05pm - 2:55pm)
• Second Filming Shoot - Wednesday 20th January 2016 (1:05pm - 2:05pm)

Within the documentary, we want to have scenes with 'Mr Preston' being strict towards the students and what they do. This links to Levi Strauss binary opposition theory (good/bad) as, 'Mr Preston would want the children to stick to the rules and behave and the children would mess about.

Summary

Me and Steven now know that we would be filming around the school on the 14th January 2016 and we would use our storyboards that we have made so that we would know what shots we need to have within our documentary to make it look professional.

Next Steps

Next for me and Steven is, we need to arrange more dates that we can film and send the letter to the school asking for permission to film around the corridors. For the ancillary task, we need to take the pictures ready to make our double page spread and magazine advert.

Fictional Channel 4 Logo Questionnaire Results

Me and Steven have got back some results on what people thought about our magazine advert so that we can see what our audience think about the logo that we have created. From the results that we have received back, we can see that they do like the logo that we have created which is what me and Steven wanted to happen. I have done the results in the form of a prezi because it is a more creative way to present my work.

Fictional Channel Logo

Me and Steven have both created a fictional channel logo '8V'. This logo design was based off of the Channel 4 logo as we wanted to have a professional looking logo to go on our documentary because this is something that is within every channel such as 'Channel 4'. We have decided to make a questionnaire so that we can see what our audience thinks about our channel logo and how they believe that we can improve it.

During our planning of the documentary, me and Steven watched some Channel 4 documentaries and noticed that on them all they have their channel logo on them, so me and Steven have made an initial logo. We have used SurveyMonkey to make another questionnaire to see what the audience think about our logo and what we could improve.

Summary

From this, me and Steven both want to see what our audience think about our initial logo that we have made and what we could do to improve it.

Next Steps

The next steps for me and Steven is that we need to get the results back from this questionnaire and make it into graphs to show our results and we need to start making our ancillary task.

Ancillary Task - Proposal

Proposal

Me and Steven have finished planning out how we would like our ancillary tasks to look like. Next me and Steven are going to book a camera for the 12th January for 2:05 - 2:55 (period 6). We would be booking a good quality camera to that the images would come out in a better quality. During this period of time me and Steven would be taking pictures of what we need for our ancillary tasks to make them look professional and to what we have designed.

I will be taking the pictures for the double page spread which is the ancillary task that I will be focusing on. I would like to have an image of a teacher sat in their office as the main image for the double page spread. I would want this image on the right hand side of the page but overlapping a bit of the left hand side to follow the conventions of double page spreads. I would also like to have 3 smaller images around the magazine showing the school environment, so that the audience can see what the school is like and could make them want to watch it.

This is the main image that I would like to have on the double page spread as it shows the inside life to the teacher and could make the audience see that it as not all about the students in this documentary but also about the teachers as well.

This would be one of the smaller images that I would want to have on the double page spread because it shows the environment around the school and gives the audience a better understanding about what the school looks like.

I am yet to decided what the other two images will be because I would need to walk around the school environment and see what makes it look welcoming.

Summary

From this I would be able to take the images needed for my double page spread on the 12th January ready for me to start to make the double page spread on Adobe Photoshop. But I need to make sure that the teacher I would like to have in the office is available at that time.

Next for me and Steven, is that we would have all the images ready to start to work on our ancillary tasks.
